Canyon Lake is great spot to get out of the house and enjoy the Texas hill country. Plenty of parks and free areas are available to all. If you like water most beaches are open to the public with small entry fee. Boats, boats and boats! If you own a boat there are almost 20 ramps to choose from and three marina's to keep your toy. Rentals are also available at each marina. When you're on the lake the fishing is excellent with a wide variety of fish to be caught . Need to get your party on? Party cove is the place to be on most weekends. Plenty of space to park in the cove, float or jump from the cliffs. Overall, the best lake in the San Antonio area.

Most beautiful lake in Texas!!!! It’s cold, clean, clear, blue!!! And just absolutely breathtaking!!! Lots of camping, boat rentals, two swimming beaches and tons of hotel rooms!!!!

Canyon lake is really awesome! The lake is huge and surprisingly the water is blue which I wasn’t expecting. All around the lake there’s tons of activities and parks to relax at and jump in the water.
Be mindful that there isn’t much shade along the lake so bring umbrellas since most likely the few shaded spots would be taken.
I love being on the lake. This one is good for swimming, tubing behind a boat, jet skiing, sailing... but it's always so windy and rough, I would not recommend it for novice wakeboarders or skiers.
Beautiful clear water lake. There is a lot of room to go boating. The fishing is also good. There are two marinas where you can rent boats by the hour. There are several parks around the lake, managed by the Corps of Engineers. The day parks are open April thru September, the two camping parks are open year round. If you have a boat there are tons of public boat ramps to launch.
